Having evolved from a culture of a working lifestyle, rodeo in the modern times has become a professional sport. Coming from the ranches of the Western America, rodeo began as the chores on the ranches which later evolved into rodeo events. Although a native of the American plains, rodeo has enjoyed much success in other countries with similar livestock and ranching culture like Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Argentina and Australia. Modern day rodeos are held in an arena that is dirt surfaced and fenced area.
The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association is the biggest association that administers the rodeos. Rodeo is considered a community event as it is organized locally by the chamber of commerce of a particular county, state or nation. These are then sanctioned by the PRCA to be counted in the year end point standings and awards. Although the awards include monetary rewards, yet the rodeo belt buckle is the most prized award of the rodeo world. The many events of the rodeo world are bareback riding, team roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, tie down roping and bull riding. Though different regions have their own set of events, professional rodeos recognized these seven events as standard events.
